Overview of CHIP Program
The CHIP personalized weight loss program is evidence based and will not only help you lose weight but it will also help you keep it off. The 4 month comprehensive program is designed to help individuals lose weight, learn to exercise correctly and adopt healthy dietary choices.
Current medical research demonstrates that diet and exercise are critical to the prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. At CHIP, we seek to provide you with the tools to exercise safely and effectively in an environment that includes support and counseling. Embarking on this program may be the first step in a long-term change to a healthy lifestyle.
Why Should You Participate
People with excess weight often have high blood pressure, high triglycerides / cholesterol, and extra fat around the belly, all which increase the risk of having a heart attack or stroke or developing type 2 diabetes.
We hope to increase your exercise capacity and reduce your risk factors including excess weight, high blood cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and inactivity. Exercise can also help with depression and insomnia.
The comprehensive weight loss program includes:
Medical Examinations and Testing
Regular visits during the program
Record of results to your referring physician
Exercise stress test prior to starting
Final exercise stress test with updated exercise prescription
Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)
Pre and Post Computerized Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
Pre and Post Blood Tests - Cholesterol, Glucose, TSH, Liver Function, Hemoglobin A1C, Creatinine
Supervised Exercise Sessions
1.5 hour private training session with individual program prescription
36 sessions of supervised exercise 3 times per week
On going education
Long-term exercise and eating plan upon completion of program
Dietician Sessions
(2.5 hours)
On-site once a month over the four-month program.
